Dub Zero

Jordan Brands first-ever hybird. Today we take a look at the lineage of the Jordan Dub Zero.

The D-Link DUB-H4 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub provides an easy way to add 4 additional USB ports to your PC or Mac, allowing you to connect more devices. The Jordan Dub Zero first released in 2005 when Jordan Brand was celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Air Jordan line – hence the name. Dub = 2 and Zero = 0. Rumor has it that the Dub Zero was Jordan's attempt to conceal the identity of the highly anticipated Air Jordan 20, but when the shoes leaked to the web it was.

For the 30th Anniversary of the Air Jordan, Jordan Brand has brought back the Dub Zero. In celebration, we take a look at the lineage of this hybrid classic.

Originally released in 2005, the Jordan Dub Zero was the brands first hybrid sneaker. It features elements from classic Air Jordan silhouettes such as the AJ4, AJ6, AJ11, AJ12, AJ13 along with later models such as the AJ15, AJ17 and AJ20. As the Air Jordan XX debuted laser print, the Dub Zero continued the trend. Four colorways were released during their initial run, all featuring patent leather.

After a one-off colorway in 2006, the Dub Zero returned in 2009 for the second time. Unlike the previous releases, these versions featured embroidered logos in place of the laser print. Four colorways would drop, and then the Dub Zero was gone without a trace. That is, until 2015.

As Jordan Brand celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Air Jordan, it also is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of laser print. With that in mind, the brands first hybrid sneaker is back for another round. Laser print was back on the 2015 releases however, the patent leather found on all previous colorways has been replaced by traditional leather. Plenty of general release colorways are set to drop throughout 2015, along with a few girls exclusives. As a result, there will be no shortage of Dub Zeros, for those looking forward to them.

But before we put them in the vault and forget about them for a few years, let’s take one last look at the history of the Jordan Dub Zero from its first release up to the most recent below.
