'USB Optical Mouse Driver'
WindowsWaheGuru G Ka Khalsa, WaheGuru G Ki FatehNote: We will be adding ScreenShots using appropriate Software to depict DPI Gain with Added Device Drivers SHORTLY.

In this Post, we highlight how to increase DPI of your Generic Mouse, PS/2 or USB using alternate Device Drivers (YEAH Drivers:) ) – which will comfort especially with HD / FULL-HD or higher resolution Displays.

When using Generic Mouse with HD / FULL-HD Resolution Displays, we need to move the mouse a tad bit more than with Lower Resolution Displays. If we try to increase Mouse Speed using Control Panel Applet (main.cpl) in Windows – that won’t accelerate that much to work with HD/FULL-HD resolution displays.

By default, our USB Mouse is labelled as “HID-compliant mouse” in Device Manager and uses “mouclass.sys and mouhid.sys” driver modules.

Now to Speed/Accelerate our Generic Mouse in Windows, we need to replace the GENERIC MOUSE DEVICE DRIVERS with Device Drivers provided by Logitech (which were extracted from Logitech Setpoint3a Binary Package). Albeit these Drivers are supposed to work with only Logitech Mice, they indeed are working with MOST of the Generic USB – PS/2 Mice.

Below shown Images depict Scenario with Generic Drivers (provided by Windows) & Logitech Drivers (explicitly installed).

Generic USB Mice with Generic Windows Device Drivers

Logitech Device Drivers (hosted at DropBox – URLs at the bottom) are provided for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows OS (tested with Windows Xp,7 and Server 2008, Server 2008R2). These Drivers work for both Generic PS/2 USB Mice. Once extracted, install the Drivers using below mentioned INF Files (using Device Manager MMC Console – devmgmt, msc) .

For PS/2 Mice INF File is “LMouPs2K.INF” & for USB Mice INF File is “LMouHidK.INF”.

Once you Install these Drivers, you will immediately notice DPI/Speed/Acceleration difference if you are using a USB Mice – and for PS/2 – you will notice difference with a subsequent OS reboot.

Note:There is a Glitch with this optimization that once you install these Custom Drivers, thereby, Every time you reboot/reset your OS, pointer speed will be reset to 50% automatically – and hence you will have to again increase mouse speed using MOUSE Control Panel Applet. Now there is a trick via which Mice Pointer speed won’t get reset everytime with OS reset/reboot.

50% Pointer Speed

Trick is to remove the file “in this path %systemroot%KHALMNPR.EXE” (normally – C:WindowsKHALMNPR.EXE).

Once removed, Pointer speed will remain stored and won’t get reset on subsequent OS reset/reboot states.

KHALMNPR.EXE file is a part of Logitech Drivers and when removed explicitly, it won’t effect your OS or Mice functionality in any way. Download album anggun best of decade.

  • 64-bit:https://www.dropbox.com/s/vrroa0o64g6jlj9/setpoint3a-x64.zip
(Now if you try to get SMART and remove KHALMNPR.exe from Windows DriverStore – then you will have a problem i.e. mice drivers won’t work if u attach mice to another USB Root Hub (can be displayed using usbview.exe))Note: We will be adding ScreenShots using appropriate Software to depict DPI Gain with Added Device Drivers SHORTLY.Hope this helps and Cheers 🙂 Your feedback is highly appreciated.
